When a baby tooth is lost too early (because of poor dental habits or cavities) the permanent teeth underneath can move into the empty space before they should. This makes it difficult for adult teeth to come in properly.<\/p>\n

Why does this matter? This shifting can cause crooked and crowded teeth later in life, which can then lead to a host of other potentially expensive dental issues.<\/p>\n

The American Dental Association<\/a> recommends that you take your child to the dentist no later than his or her first birthday and then every six months after that. This will help your dentist keep an eye on how your child’s teeth are coming in and will also help your child learn how important dental care is.<\/p>\n
